Gujarat Titans (GT) fast bowler Mohit Sharma believes that Shivam Dube's progress as a batter while playing for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2024 will greatly benefit Indian cricket.
Dube delivered an impressive performance for CSK in the 7th game of the ongoing IPL 2024 against the Gujarat Titans (GT) to help the defending champions record their second consecutive win in the tournament.
With a blistering knock of 51 runs off just 23 balls, Dube played a crucial role in CSK’s 63-run win over GT at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.
Before this stunning show, Dube showed his importance in the CSK batting lineup by scoring 34* off 28 balls during his team’s 6-wicket win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 17 opener.
After the CSK vs. GT match, Mohit Sharma lauded Dube's noteworthy improvement over the past few seasons and said that the all-rounder deserves recognition for his efforts.
Mohit Sharma said during the post-match presser: “How Shivam Dube has improved himself over the past few seasons deserves a lot of praise. If we look at it from a broader spectrum, this is good for Indian cricket. Because big tournaments are coming up. It is a good thing for CSK.”
The GT pacer continued, “When you make a package for a batter, you tend to be a step ahead of the batter. For a player like Dube, it is like he is aware probably that a yorker is going to come in next, a slower bouncer is going to come in.”
Speaking about his chat with Dube, Mohit said: “When we were chatting on the ground, I told him it would be difficult to hit to the longer part of the ground with my variations. But he was pretty clear as to how what he wanted to do and what to avoid.”
He signed off by saying, “And for me, for a longer period, you need to have that mindset. The way that he has batted so far and how he is going at the moment, he has a bright future ahead, for whichever team he is going to represent.”
