Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) all-rounder Shivam Dube showcased his talent yet again by contributing a rapid half-century in the defending champions’ convincing 63-run victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 7th game of the ongoing IPL 2024 in Chennai.
After CSK’s second consecutive win in the ongoing IPL 2024 on Tuesday, March 26, Dube spoke about the trust and freedom given to him by the franchise, which helped him to play his game on the field.
He also highlighted his dedication to being prepared for short deliveries, particularly since the latest regulations allow for a couple of bouncers per over in the T20 league.
“This franchise (CSK) is something different from all others. They are giving me the freedom. They want me to do better and I also want to win some matches,” Dube said after winning 'Player of the Match' award for his brilliant knock of 51 runs off 23 balls against GT.
Dube hasn't focused on just surviving against short balls in this season, as he has taken an aggressive approach towards them like never before.
Speaking about the same, he said: “I have worked in that way. It is helping me. I know they will bowl me some short balls and I am ready for that.”
The Indian all-rounder also revealed that the CSK team management has consistently encouraged him to stick to the same strategy in every match – to take on the bowlers head-on.
Dube signed off by saying, “They want me to do the same thing I did today. They want me to score with a higher strike-rate and that is what I'm doing.”
