Sameer Rizvi made quite an impression in his first outing with the bat in the IPL 2024 for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). While he had made his CSK debut against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the first match of the ongoing IPL tournament, he didn’t get the chance to bat.
But in CSK’s second IPL match against Gujarat Titans, Rizvi got a chance to showcase his prowess with the bat which led to the five-time IPL champions fork out INR 8.4 Cr for him in the IPL 2024 auction.
The 20-year-old came up with a breezy knock of unbeaten 14 runs in six balls. He came out to bat in the 19th over facing the best T20 spinner today in Rashid Khan. Rizvi started off with a majestic six over the square leg region in the 19th over. The uncapped young India cricketer finished the over with another maximum.
His innings was cut short by a good catch by David Miller off Mohit Sharma in the final over.
Now Sameer’s brother Sabool has revealed that the batter had promised him that he will hit his first ball for six. Sabool who watched the game on TV, shared a video of Rizvi’s brilliant batting on Instagram.
He captioned the post: “Keh kar gaya tha pheli bol par six marunga mashallah [He had said that he would hit six off the very first delivery mashallah]”
