IPL 2024: WATCH- Rishabh Pant gets standing ovation and roaring welcome as he walks out to bat

This is Rishabh Pant's first competitive cricket match since December 2022.

Rishabh Pant with Shikhar Dhawan | IPL-BCCIDelhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant walked out to bat amidst ear-deafening applause at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur for his team’s IPL 2024 opener against Punjab Kings on March 23, 2024.

Pant has been out of action since December 2022, when he met with a serious car accident. He underwent multiple surgeries on his right knee and had to undergo 14 months of rigorous recovery and rehabbed procedures.

He was then medically cleared by the BCCI medical staff at the NCA where he was rehabbing. The excitement in the DC fanbase was at its peak when it was confirmed that Rishabh Pant would play in the IPL 2024 and captain the Delhi Capitals.

Pant walked out to bat for DC in the 8th over when the team lost the wicket of David Warner for 29 runs with the team score reading 74/2. As he stepped onto the field, Rishabh Pant received a raucous welcome from the crowd in the Mullanpur stadium, who also gave him a standing ovation.
