Shubman Gill had a special message for the Gujarat Titans (GT) fans ahead of his captaincy debut in IPL 2024. The IPL 2022 winners and finalists of the IPL 2023, Gujarat Titans will begin their IPL 17 against Mumbai Indians on Sunday in Ahmedabad.
Shubman Gill was named the GT captain after Hardik Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2024 in an all-cash deal. Despite the presence of experienced players like Rashid Khan, Kane Williamson and David Miller, GT decided to hand over the reins to young Shubman Gill.
In the video released on GT's social media platforms, Gill said he was eager to experience the upcoming season with the fans. The new skipper also said that they have full faith in the group and would look to have another memorable season in the IPL.
"As your captain, I can't wait to experience this IPL season with all of you. We have had two remarkable seasons with everyone giving it their all. You from the stands, us on the ground. As we start this new season, a new beginning. I assure you that the GT way remains the same. We believe in our group and we will do it for you. Come, together let's make another memorable season," said Gill in the video.
Shubman Gill made his GT IPL debut in 2022 and in two seasons, he has scored 1373 runs in 33 games. He has hit 3 centuries and 8 fifties for GT with the highest score of 129. He averages 47.34 and has a strike rate of 147.79.
