He might be at the twilight of his professional cricket career, but former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni’s fitness is still top notch.
In the very first match of the IPL 2024 season at Chepauk, Dhoni pulled off a brilliant run out to get rid of RCB batter Anuj Rawat.
When RCB were reeling at 78/5, Rawat stepped up and added 95 runs for the sixth wicket with Dinesh Karthik to bail his team out of trouble. His 48-run knock off 25 balls came to an end in the final delivery of the innings due to Dhoni’s brilliance.
CSK pacer Tushar Deshpande bowled a delivery outside off and Karthik swung hard but failed to connect it. Since it was the final ball of the innings, both the RCB batters tried to sneak a single but Dhoni’s underarm throw was too quick for Anuj Rawat, who was found short of his crease despite putting a big dive.
Here’s the video:
Coming to the match, RCB racked up 173/6 in their allotted 20 overs despite a middle-order collapse. While Rawat was dismissed for 48, Karthik finished with 38 not out off 26 balls.
Mustafizur Rahman starred with the ball for CSK, returning with the figurs of 4 for 29 in his four overs.
