The IPL 2024 tournament has seen a lot of injuries and withdrawals even before the tournament has begun. The 17th edition of the IPL is set to begin on March 22, 2024, with the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Chepauk.
IPL 2022 champions Gujarat Titans suffered a blow when they lost the services of young keeper-batter Robin Minz ahead of the tournament. Minz who hails from Jharkhand, was picked in the IPL 2024 auction for INR 3.6 Cr amidst much excitement about his big-hitting talent.
However, Minz was involved in a motorbike accident in March and was ruled out of the IPL 2024. Now the IPL confirmed his replacement in the Gujarat Titans squad for the upcoming season. The IPL 2023 finalists have roped in BR Sharath, the Karnataka keeper-batter.
“Gujarat Titans (GT) added B R Sharath to their squad as replacement for the injured Robin Minz. He has so far played 28 T20s, in addition to 20 First-Class matches and 43 List A games, and has 328 T20 runs against his name. He will join GT for his base price of INR 20 Lac,” an IPL statement read.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals will miss the services of Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa. Zampa was retained by the RR for IPL 2024 and his manager confirmed that the spinner has withdrawn from IPL following a busy season with the Australian team.
In his place, the RR franchise has brought in Mumbai’s Tanush Kotian. Kotian was the Player of the Tournament in the recent Ranji Trophy 2024 where he scored 502 runs and picked 29 wickets.
“Tanush Kotian joined Rajasthan Royals (RR) in place of Adam Zampa for the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Tanush Kotian, who recently made solid all-around contributions as Mumbai won the 42nd Ranji Trophy title, joins RR for his base price of INR 20 Lac. He has represented Mumbai in 23 T20s, 26 First-Class games, and 19 List A matches,” the IPL statement read.
The IPL 2024 begins on March 24, 2024.
