IPL 2024: Doubts on Suryakumar Yadav’s availability for MI intensify after his cryptic Instagram story

Suryakumar Yadav for MI | IPL-BCCIAhead of the forthcoming Indian Premier League season (IPL 2024), Suryakumar Yadav has alarmed the Mumbai Indians (MI) fans with a mysterious post on Instagram. The right-handed batter is expected to compete in the event, although it is unclear if he will do so in the preliminary stages.

Since December of last year, the Mumbai star has not participated in a competitive match. His last appearance for India came in the T20I series versus South Africa, and he scored an incredible century.

He first sustained an ankle injury in that same game, which led to a sports hernia. He needed surgery to treat both of his wounds. He had to have surgery on his groin in Munich in January following the procedure for the ankle injury.

On Monday, Mumbai Indians (MI) head coach Mark Boucher even clarified that the MI team management is currently waiting for updates from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding Suryakumar Yadav’s injury.

He had recently posted on Instagram a video of his recovery on social media with the caption: “Kaam chalu hai doston. Milte hain jaldi

He is currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and needs to get clearance from the BCCI medical staff to play in IPL 2024. He was reportedly set to appear in a fitness test on Tuesday (March 19).

Meanwhile, he posted a cryptic message on his Instagram story which was a photo of a broken heart emoji. This has led to the MI fans believing that Suryakumar has possibly failed to receive clearance from the BCCI medical staff to return to action.
