Mumbai Indians (MI) have been dealt a huge blow as they will be reportedly without the services of ace batter Suryakumar Yadav for their IPL 2024 opener. As per reports, Suryakumar is yet to receive medical clearance from the NCA in Bengaluru, where he is currently rehabbing.
Suryakumar Yadav has been out of action since December last year when he injured his ankle during a T20I match in South Africa. He underwent surgery for the same and then got a sports hernia for which he had to undergo surgery for the same.
Since then, he has been undergoing recovery and rehab at the NCA. Suryakumar Yadav reportedly underwent a fitness test at the NCA in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
However, the NCA management is understood to have withheld clearance, preventing him from fulfilling his IPL commitments with the Mumbai Indians for the time being.
This means that Suryakumar Yadav will most likely miss the opening match of MI, which will be played in Ahmedabad against Gujarat Titans on Sunday, March 24.
Meanwhile, the MI management has issued a statement saying that the practice games this year will be behind closed doors at the Wankhede as always.
