IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals sign Jake Fraser-McGurk as replacement for injured Lungi Ngidi

Ngidi is suffering from a lower back injury he suffered in SA20 2024.

Jake Fraser-McGurk | GettyDelhi Capitals (DC) have signed Australian top-order batter Jake Fraser-McGurk as a replacement for Lungi Ngidi for IPL 2024.

South Africa pacer Ngidi is still recovering from the lower back injury he suffered during the SA20 earlier in the year. On the other hand, Fraser-McGurk played three matches for Dubai Capitals in the ILT20 this season and will join the Delhi franchise for a base price of INR 50 lakh.

Fraser-McGurk, who also bowls some leg spin, was listed as an allrounder at the last IPL auction. So far, though, he has only bowled four overs in professional cricket - and just the one in T20s.

Delhi Capitals (DC) named all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk as replacement for Lungisani Ngidi for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Ngidi, who has played 14 IPL matches and has 25 wickets against his name, was ruled out of the TATA IPL 2024 due to injury. Jake Fraser-McGurk has played 2 ODIs for Australia. He joins DC for his reserve price of INR 50 Lac,” an official statement from IPL read.  

The 21-year-old right-handed batter made his international debut last month, playing two ODIs at home against West Indies. He has played 37 T20s so far and strikes at 133.54.
