Former RCB star AB de Villiers announced his participation in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024).
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, the former Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter revealed his plans to be in Mumbai for the first few weeks of the upcoming IPL 2024, where he will be involved in the broadcasting duties.
De Villiers also hinted at a potential coaching stint with the RCB in the upcoming IPL 2024 after having a conversation with Virat Kohli. This isn't the first time De Villiers has been associated with the IPL broadcasting team, having also been part of it during the 2023 season.
AB de Villiers said on his YouTube channel: “Nothing confirmed yet, Virat has hinted that he might want me to come over and spend a bit of time with him and some of the batters.”
The Proteas legend added, “That call will come from Andy Flower, Faf and the team. For now, I'm just going to be in Mumbai for the first few weeks of the IPL. I'm doing a bit of commentating.”
Notably, De Villiers retired from all formats of cricket in November 2021. He cited difficulties with batting following an eye operation as one of the primary reasons for his retirement. De Villiers brought an end to his illustrious IPL career, amassing a total of 5162 runs from 184 matches.
