IPL 2024: “It’s a huge boost for Delhi Capitals”- Sourav Ganguly on Rishabh Pant’s return

Rishabh Pant is set to return to cricket in IPL 2024 and captain Delhi Capitals.

Rishabh Pant is set to return to cricket in IPL 2024 and captain Delhi Capitals | BCCI-IPLSourav Ganguly, the director of cricket of Delhi Capitals (DC), said that the comeback of Rishabh Pant will be a huge boost for the franchise. Pant has been out of action since December 2022 after meeting with a fatal accident.

He underwent surgery on his knee and then recovered at home. Post that, he has been a resident at the NCA in Bengaluru rehabbing and working hard on his return. Pant missed all cricket in 2023, including the home Test series against Australia, the IPL, the World Cup, South Africa, and ongoing home Test series against England.

However, Pant has been sharing videos of his rehab on social media and was seen on the DC table during the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai.

The DC co-owner Parth Jindal confirmed that Rishabh Pant will play in the IPL 2024 for Delhi Capitals and will captain the franchise. He said that initially, Pant will play as a pure batter and a decision on his keeping will be taken once he recovers fully.

Now Sourav Ganguly has also spoken on the return of Rishabh Pant for DC in IPL 2024.

It’s a huge boost for Delhi Capitals because Indian players are gold in the IPL. Obviously, he has not played much cricket and I hope he gets back to rhythm very quickly. It’s been a while since he is away from competitive cricket, almost 17-18 months. He has worked very hard to make a comeback. He is confident and wants to play for Delhi Capitals and India. I am extremely happy he is back and hope he gets through the season,” Ganguly told RevzSportz.

I met him (Rishabh) in Bangalore recently for the inaugural game of WPL. He was there. He is getting ready and hopefully will play in IPL 2024. He looked very confident about playing in the IPL 2024 which begins on March 22. And that’s seriously good news for us in Delhi and India,” he added.
