The schedule shows a mega clash between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opening the 17th edition of the IPL in Chennai.

This meeting between CSK and RCB has always been one of the highly anticipated clashes of the tournament, due to the big names that both these sides consist of.

MS Dhoni's return to IPL 2024 will be a much-awaited event, but the focus will entirely not be on the 5-time champions. ON the other hand, RCB star batter Virat Kohli will return to competitive action in the IPL after missing the England Test series due to the birth of his second child.

Notably, BCCI released the schedule only for the first 21 matches, till April 7. The second half of the tournament schedule is expected once the Election Commission of India reveals the dates of the national elections, which are expected to take place in April and May. The IPL final is expected to be played on May 26.

In all, 74 games will be played, including four playoff matches.
