Ahead of the IPL 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has named a replacement for fast bowler Gus Atkinson of England. Atkinson was bought in the IPL 2024 auction for his base price by the 2012 and 2014 IPL champions KKR.
Gus Atkinson made his T20I and ODI debut for England during the home series against New Zealand in 2023. He played 9 ODIs and 3 T20Is and has picked up a total of 17 wickets. Overall, he has played 46 T20s so far and has taken 62 wickets.
He has been replaced by Sri Lanka pacer Dushmantha Chameera, who will be joining the KKR franchise at a reserve price of INR 50 Lakh.

Chameera is known for his pace, and can trouble the batters with his swing and seam movements, was a part of Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2018 and 2021 IPL seasons, respectively.
He represented Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 season, where he picked up nine wickets from 12 matches. He was not picked by any franchise in the IPL 2024 auction. Chameera has battled injuries a lot in the past year. He even missed the Asia Cup and ICC World Cup in 2023 as he recovered from knee and shoulder injuries.
