IPL 2024: Umesh Yadav excited to join the class of 2015 World Cup pacers at Gujarat Titans

Umesh believes that GT will turn out to be a great franchise for him.

Umesh Yadav | GettyVeteran India pacer Umesh Yadav is fairly excited to play under the coaching of Ashish Nehra after Gujarat Titans (GT) shelled put Rs 5.8 Crore to secure his services at the IPL 2024 min-auction in Dubai on Tuesday (December 19).

One of the top 10 Indian wicket-takers in IPL history, Umesh has worked with Nehra in the past and he believes that GT will turn out to be a great franchise for him.

"I have spent quite a lot of time with Ashish Nehra and I know how he trains the bowlers and maintains a good dressing room environment. I believe Gujarat Titans will be a great franchise for me," Umesh told JioCinema after being picked up by the Titans.

At Gujarat Titans, Umesh would be bowling alongside Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma. The right-arm quick is happy about reuniting with the class of Indian pacers who featured in World Cup 2015.

"I have played World Cup 2015 with Mohit Sharma and Mohammad Shami. I am excited to be playing at Gujarat Titans under Ashish Nehra. I am ready to learn and also teach the youngsters at GT if need be," he added.

Umesh Yadav has played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League so far.

In 141 IPL matches, Umesh has picked up a total of 136 wickets at an economy rate of 8.43 with the best figures of 4/23.
