Former India batter Robin Uthappa expects Shubham Dubey and Sameez Rizvi to steal the limelight in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
During the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai on December 19, the two uncapped players took the cricketing world by storm with their hefty price tags.
While Rajasthan Royals (RR) shelled out Rs 5.80 Crore to secure the services of Dubey, defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) roped in Rizvi for Rs 8.40 Crore.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Uthappa wrote: “Vidarbha's finisher Shubham Dubey and young lad Sameer Rizvi bagging big monies in the auction is great for the domestic talents!! These two could be the talk of the season. Do watch out!”
Shubham Dubey has played 20 T20 matches so far, amassing 485 runs at an average of 37.30 and a strike rate of 145.20 with a top score of 58* to his name. The southpaw also made a mark in the recently held Vijay Hazare Trophy while playing for Vidarbha.
Talking about Sameez Rizvi, the Uttar Pradesh youngster has scored 295 runs in 11 T20Is at an average of 49.16 and a strike rate of 134.70, including two half-centuries. Earlier this year, Rizvi caught everyone’s attention by slamming the fastest century in the inaugural edition of the UP T20 League.
