Former South African captain AB de Villiers and Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal have both played together for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

However, De Villiers retired from all forms of cricket after the IPL 2021, while Chahal was forced to move to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2022 after the Bangalore-based franchise released him.

Well, De Villiers and Chahal were recently involved in an entertaining banter during an interaction on the Proteas great’s YouTube channel. The legendary South African batter jokingly asked Chahal if he was good enough to play another season of the IPL.

De Villiers asked during the interaction: “Do you think I have one more season in me?”

To which Chahal replied by asking his former RCB teammate to join his present IPL team Rajasthan Royals (RR) for the IPL 2024. He said: “Yeah, definitely, you can come to Rajasthan now.”

Hearing Chahal’s response, De Villiers said: “You know, I was playing with the kids in the nets yesterday and I picked up those small bats that came up to my knee. But I hit a couple in the middle of the bat and I felt, maybe I should hit a couple of balls and have a feel for it again.”

The Indian leg-spinner further went on to laud the Proteas legend’s batting skills. He said, “Even at 50-60, you can hit sixes. There is no doubt.”
