Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar believes that Pat Cummins would be a hot pick in the upcoming IPL 2024 mini-auction, which is set to take place on December 19 in Dubai.

According to Manjrekar, Australia’s 2023 World Cup-winning captain Cummins is not just sought after for his impressive cricketing skills in the upcoming IPL auction but also for his 'X factor,' which can benefit certain teams.

Manjrekar further predicted that Cummins might attract a high price for his leadership prowess, and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) could go after him in the auction.

Sanjay Manjrekar said on Star Sports: “Pat Cummins would be a great addition on a pitch with where, you know most bowlers struggle. He has got that X factor and out of the box thinking, you know, just something of a wild card. A couple of teams looking for leadership, different leadership.”

Manjrekar signed off by saying, “Sunrisers Hyderabad with Aiden Markram, Punjab Kings with Shikhar Dhawan. So Pat Cummins’s recent performance as a leader as well could maybe get the attention of a few team owners as well. Unlikely to happen, but can’t rule that out.”

Notably, Cummins has so far amassed 379 runs and snared 45 wickets in 42 games in the IPL over his six stints. The Australian pacer had withdrawn from the IPL 2023 but will be hoping for a big deal in the upcoming auction for the IPL 2024.
