Starc, Head, Ravindra headline IPL 2024 auction list; Jofra Archer's name missing- Report

Only 77 slots to be filled in the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai on December 19.

TataIPL auction 2024 will take place on December 19 | IPLThe Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) auction which will take place in Dubai on December 19, 2023, will see some of the biggest names in cricket today going under the hammer. A total of 1,166 players registered their names which were shared with the IPL franchises on Friday.

Top World Cup performers like Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Daryl Mitchell, and Rachin Ravindra are among the global names seeking to find a franchise in the 10-team league. Josh Hazlewood, who is doubtful for a part of the league, has also submitted his name.

However, England’s talented pacer Jofra Archer has not submitted his name for the auction after he was released by Mumbai Indians (MI) on the deadline for retention and releases.

Among the 1,166 players,  830 are Indian players, with 336 being overseas players. The list incorporates 212 capped, 909 uncapped, and 45 Associate players.

Of the 830 Indians, 18 are capped players, namely Varun Aaron, KS Bharat, Kedar Jadhav, Siddarth Kaul, Dhawal Kulkarni, Shivam Mavi, Shahbaz Nadeem, Karun Nair, Manish Pandey, Harshal Patel, Chetan Sakariya, Mandeep Singh, Barinder Sran, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, Hanuma Vihari, Sandeep Warrier and Umesh Yadav.

Only four capped Indian players- Harshal Patel, Kedar Jadhav, Shardul Thakur, and Umesh Yadav, who were released by their respective franchises, have set their base price as INR 2 crores. The remaining 14 will be available at the reserve price of INR 50 lakh.

The official reason for Archer not registering his name was not disclosed, but it was being talked among IPL teams that he would not turn up this year because of his injury. However, there are a bunch of England players in the auction list.

The top English player in the list is Rehan Ahmed (INR 50 lakh), Gus Atkinson (INR 1 cr), Tom Banton (INR 2 cr), Sam Billings (INR 1 cr), Harry Brook (INR 2 cr), Brydon Carse (INR 50 lakh), Tom Curran (INR 1.5 cr), Ben Duckett (INR 2 cr), George Garton (INR 50 lakh), Richard Gleeson (INR 50 lakh), Samuel Hain (INR 50 lakh), Chris Jordan (INR 1.5 cr), Dawid Malan (INR 1.5 cr), Tymal Mills (INR 1.5 cr), Jamie Overton (INR 2 cr), Ollie Pope (INR 50 lakh), Adil Rashid (INR 2 cr), Philip Salt (INR 1.5 cr), George Scrimshaw (INR 50 lakh), Olly Stone (INR 75 lakh), David Willey (INR 2 cr), Chris Woakes (INR 2 cr), and Luke Wood (INR 50 lakh).

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has requested franchises to respond with additional player requests, if any, not listed on the Auction Register. The requested players will be automatically included in the auction if they are eligible and interested.

Franchisees have also been instructed to respond with a list of players from the Register that they would like to be included in the Auction, with a reminder that only 77 slots are to be filled, of which a maximum of 30 can be overseas players.
