IPL 2024: “MS Dhoni is facing some issues with his knee”- Aakash Chopra concerned about CSK skipper

MS Dhoni was retained by CSK ahead of IPL 2024 auction.

MS Dhoni | XFormer India opener Aakash Chopra has shown concern about MS Dhoni’s wellbeing ahead of the IPL 2024 season with the focus on his knee. MS Dhoni led the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to the IPL 2023 title earlier this year.

However, Dhoni was plagued with a knee injury during the entire IPL 16 tournament and was seen wearing a knee brace during practice and while batting. He immediately underwent surgery post the IPL 2023 final and then he rehabbed and recovered at his home in Ranchi.

He has been making public appearances since and a recent video where Dhoni is seen having a trip to Dehradun, showed that the cricketer still has issues with his knee.

MS Dhoni said that his playing the IPL 2024 depended on how fit he is. But with CSK announcing their retentions for next season, it has been confirmed that MS Dhoni will return to lead the side.

However, Aakash Chopra said that MS Dhoni looked uncomfortable in the said video on social media, where he was coming down the stairs.

Dhoni would like to play the full season. He’s facing some issues with his knee. I saw some videos of his from Dehradun where he was climbing down the stairs but not looking too comfortable,” Chopra said on JioCinema.

So hopefully he will keep a close watch on his knees. But one thing is certain, if he plays, he’ll play the full season. Last season, too, there were doubts, but he’s proved everyone wrong time and again. So, I’ll refrain from saying anything about Dhoni. He will decide when to leave,” he added.

Ahead of IPL 2024, CSK released the likes of Ben Stokes along with Dwaine Pretorius, K Bhagath Varma, Subhranshu Senapati, Ambati Rayudu (retired), Kyle Jamieson, Akash Singh, and Sisanda Magala.

With INR 32.10 crores in their purse for the auction, CSK will aim to bolster their squad further and fill spots left by Ben Stokes and Ambati Rayudu.
