IPL 2024: WATCH- Devdutt Padikkal excited to play under KL Rahul's captaincy in LSG

Indian batter Devdutt Padikkal is all set to play for his third franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Padikkal started his IPL career with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and then he represented Rajasthan Royals (RR) till IPL 2023.

Well, Padikkal will now make his debut for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the upcoming IPL 2024 after being traded from RR to LSG.

On November 24, the LSG shared a short video on X, where Padikkal expressed his delight at joining the Lucknow side for the next season. 

The 23-year-old batter said that he had a chat with LSG’s news head coach, Justin Langer, and he is really looking forward to learning from the Australian legend during the IPL 2023. He is also excited to play under the captaincy of KL Rahul and bat with him. They already shared the RCB dressing room.

Devdutt Padikkal said in a video post by LSG on X: “I would just like to thank you to the management at the Super Giants for giving me this opportunity to represent the franchise. I'm really looking forward to playing under KL and his guidance, and I always enjoyed batting with him as well. So, I'm looking forward to doing that again.”

Speaking about Langer, Padikkal said: “I also have a chat with JL (Justin Langer), and I can tell that he's really committed, and I'm looking forward to learning a lot from him as he is such an experienced coach, and he's achieved a lot in his career as well.”

He concluded, “I'm really looking forward to, uh, you know, joining the journey of the Lucknow Super Giants over the last couple of years. They were really great and they're already on the up. So, I'm looking forward to joining that and playing in front of the Eakana Stadium and, you know, really giving the fans something to cheer about.”

Notably, the IPL governing committee has set a deadline of November 26 for the franchises to finalize the trade and retention of players, while the mini-auction for the IPL 2024 will take place in Dubai on December 19.
