Agarkar and Watson had joined the DC franchise after IPL 2022 mega auction | TwitterIndian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) have announced that they have parted ways with their assistant coaches Ajit Agarkar of India and Australia’s Shane Watson, with a tweet thanking the duo on social media.

This comes after DC failed to make it into the playoffs of the IPL 2023 season which they played under the captaincy of David Warner as regular skipper Rishabh Pant is out of action due to his recovering from injuries, he suffered in a car accident in December 2022.

The team could win only five out of 14 matches to end in the ninth position in the points table. Even in IPL 2022, DC had not made it to the top four of the tournament.

There was a lot of criticism of the team management and many speculated that there might be big changes coming as the DC side prepares for the next season of IPL in 2024.

However, DC co-owner Parth Jindal confirmed that head coach Ricky Ponting and director of cricket Sourav Ganguly will continue to helm the franchise and guide the players as they look to redeem themselves in IPL 2024.

However, they have parted ways with Ajit Agarkar and Shane Watson, who had joined the team at said positions after the mega auction ahead of IPL 2022.

You’ll always have a place to call home here. Thank You, Ajit and Watto, for your contributions. All the very best for your future endeavors,” DC tweeted.
