Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets via the DLS method to clinch their fifth title, bringing them equal to the Mumbai Indians, who also have five IPL trophies to their name.

However, the crux of the entire IPL 2023 was performances from individuals who shined for their teams and helped them win when it most mattered. Some played consistently, scoring big runs, while some had a huge impact in short appearances.

As it is the motto of the tournament “where talent meets opportunity”, multiple players who are yet to play for India, showcased their brilliance against the best of Indian and international players.

Keeping this in mind, Circle of Cricket presents the Uncapped XI of the IPL 2023.

Opening the innings for the COC Uncapped XI will be Yashasvi Jaiswal of Rajasthan Royals and Prabhsimran Singh of Punjab Kings. Jaiswal scored 625 runs in 14 matches, the highest ever by an uncapped player in IPL history and also the fastest fifty ever in IPL.

Prabhsimran Singh got to play all the matches for the first time with PBKS and managed 358 runs with 1 fifty and one century, his highest score being 103 runs. He gave quick starts to PBKS which was seen in his strike rate of 150.42.

Sai Sudharsan | BCCI-IPLSai Sudharsan might have only played 8 matches for GT, but he scored 362 runs in them with his highest score of 96 coming in the all-important final match. Tilak Varma scored 343 runs in 11 matches for MI with his 84* against RCB being one of the most memorable knocks of the tournament.

Rinku Singh, who had another eventful IPL this season, scored 474 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of 149.52 and his 5 sixes in 5 balls off Yash Dayal will remain part of the IPL highlight reel forever. He will be the captain of the COC uncapped XI.

Jitesh Sharma was once again impactful for the Punjab side with 309 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 156.06, hitting 22 fours and 21 sixes. He has already received a call-up to the Indian team and with an eye on the T20 World Cup next year, he might be in line thanks to his excellent keeping skills as well.

Jitesh Sharma | BCCI-IPLNehal Wadhera had an excellent debut year for MI, who had picked him for his hitting prowess. He hit 241 runs in 14 matches with 2 fifties and a strike rate of 145.18. He was impressive in the role given to him and excelled with backing from the management.   

Harpreet Brar of Punjab Kings impressed with his ability to control the run flow even in powerplay given he picked 9 wickets in 11 matches at an economy of 8.02 with a best of 4/30. He was also a livewire in the field and hit some lusty blows as well with the bat.

Suresh Raina picks best XI of IPL 2023; excludes MS Dhoni from the team

The fast bowling contingent of this COC uncapped XI will consist of Tushar Deshpande of CSK, who stepped up when Deepak Chahar suffered an injury. He overcame his no-ball issues and even did well in death overs. Deshpande finished with 21 wickets in 16 matches with a best of 3/45.

Akash Madhwal | BCCI-IPLAkash Madhwal was a revelation for MI, stepping up in the death overs bowling role after Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out and shined with the ball picking 14 wickets in 8 matches with a best of 5/5.

Yash Thakur was a silent performer for the Lucknow Super Giants as he picked 13 wickets in 9 games at an economy of 9.07 and performed well without getting many accolades.  

The impact sub for this XI will be KKR’s newest find, leg-spinner Suyash Sharma, who didn’t play any senior FC, one-day, or T20 cricket before his IPL 2023 debut. He picked 10 wickets in 11 matches with a best of 3/30 and was impressive with his ability to keep batters quiet.
