IPL 2023: “Love you guys,” Hayden shares video of fans walking through waterlogged street after IPL final moves to reserve day

After rain played spoilsport, the BCCI thanked the fans for their patience and support. The board also requested the fans to come in large numbers to support their favourite IPL teams in the summit clash.

Australian legend Matthew Hayden, who is part of the IPL commentary team, shared an Instagram story, in which fans can be seen braving the rain to watch the final.

"Love you guys #bestfans. See you tomorrow GT vs CSK IPL2023 Finals," Hayden wrote in the caption.

The rain started half an hour before the toss. While it stopped almost two and a half hours later and the covers were removed with a couple of super soppers already in service, a strong rainstorm returned, forcing the ground staff to cover the surface all over again.

After the second spell of rain, there were some significant puddles on the covers. As a result, the match was called off on Sunday.

The grand finale between GT and CSK will now take place in Ahmedabad on Monday (May 29) and fans will be able to enter the stadium with their existing physical tickets.

"The IPL Final of the 2023 edition involving Chennai Super Kings and the Gujarat Titans has been rescheduled to the reserved day, Monday, May 29th due to incessant rain in Ahmedabad. Fans who had their tickets for the IPL Final on May 28th will now be able to enter the stadium with their existing physical tickets on May 29th. The BCCI would like to thank the fans present tonight for their patience and support. We request them to come in big numbers to support their favourite IPL teams at the grand finale of the IPL 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad," BCCI's statement read.
