IPL 2023: “It is very difficult to find more adjectives,” Sunil Gavaskar mesmerized by Shubman Gill’s exploits in IPL 16

Shubman Gill slammed his third century in the ongoing IPL season during the Qualifier 2 against MI.

Shubman Gill | BCCI-IPLShubman Gill was at his breathtaking best in Gujarat Titans’ (GT) comprehensive 62-run victory over Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023 Qualifier 2 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Friday (May 26).

Opening the innings, Gill slammed 129 off 60 balls, propelling the defending champions to a colossal 233/3 in 20 overs. His knock was studded with 7 fours and 10 sixes.

With this innings, Shubman also pipped RCB skipper Faf du Plessis to top the Orange Cap tally. He now has 851 runs to his name from 16 innings with three centuries and four fifties.

Impressed with his exploits, batting legend Sunil Gavaskar said he had run out of adjectives to describe Gill and the 23-year-old has the cricketing world at his feet.

"It is very difficult to find more adjectives apart from saying that the cricketing world is at his feet. The sky is the limit for him. That's all I can say.

"And his feet really. The certainty of the feet movement. The certainty of playing forward and back, that's so important and essential for a good batter. At the same time, keep your balance as well and that's what he does," Gavaskar said while speaking to Star Sports.

"If he keeps doing that, runs are going to flow. Because there is a correctness about his cricket and a correctness about his batting. You sometimes feel like he has played across the line. He hasn't really played across the line. He has played at the very last moment. He hasn't been wild trying to play across the line."

"This is the third century he has got in this IPL. He has improved with every innings. Now he has got 129, the highest score in this year's IPL. So the sky is the limit and he is going up and up. So that's good news for not just for Gujarat Titans, but for Indian cricket," he added.

Shubman Gill will now turn up in the IPL 2023 final for Gujarat Titans against Chennai Super Kings at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Sunday (May 28).
