Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) IPL 2023 campaign came to an end on Wednesday (May 24) as they suffered a crushing 81-run defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians (MI).

Following the match, there was an alleged tweet made from LS pacer Naveen-ul-Haq related to RCB’s star batter Virat Kohli. However, Naveen has broken his silence on the viral post.

Notably, Naveen and Kohli were involved in a heated altercation during an IPL game between LSG and RCB in Lucknow earlier this month.

After LSG were knocked out the tournament, a Twitter handle by the name '@naveenulhaq66' posted, "I'm sorry Virat Kohli sir".

The tweet went viral in a jiffy, garnering over 40,000 likes. Since the account also had a blue tick, netizens could not stop talking about it.

Amid the speculations, Naveen-ul-Haq on Saturday (May 27) shared an Instagram story, clarifying that it was a fake account. He also warned the fans to report if they received any messages from the account.

Since his spat with Kohli, Naveen is facing the wrath of fans on social media and in the stadiums as well. Irrespective of the venue, the crowd broke into "Kohli, Kohli" chants whenever the Afghanistan pacer came into the attack bowling attack. He was also heckled by the fans while fielding near the boundary ropes on numerous occasions.

After the match against MI, Naveen-ul-Haq spoke about the "Kohli, Kohli" chants made by the spectators.

"I enjoy it. I like the crowd chanting his [Virat Kohli's] name or any other player's name. It gives me passion to play well for my team," Naveen said in the post-match press conference.

"Well, I don't concentrate on the noise from the outside or anything else. I just focus on my own process. It's not like if the crowd is chanting or anyone is saying something… it doesn't affect me. As professional sportsmen, you have to take this in your stride. One day you will not do your best for the team and the fans will give it to you. On another day, you will do a special thing for your team and the same people can chant your name. So, [it's] basically a part and parcel of the game," he added.
