Shubman Gill | BCCI-IPLShubman Gill starred with the bat in Gujarat Titans’ (GT) comprehensive 62-run victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2023 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Friday (May 26).

Invited to bat first, the defending champions racked up a mammoth 233/3 in their allotted 20 overs on the back of Gill’s scintillating century (129 off 60 balls). His knock was laced with 7 fours and 10 sixes

It was Shubman Gill’s third century in the ongoing IPL and he also surpassed Faf du Plessis’ tally to become the top run-getter this season.

After the game, GT skipper Hardik Pandya showered rich praise on Shubman Gill, saying that this is one of the best knocks he has seen in a while.

"I think the clarity he [Shubman Gill] carried, he is in a great place when it comes to the mindset. This has to be one of the best knocks I have seen in a while. He never looked in rush, he was always in control and it felt like the balls were thrown at him and he was striking them. I mean whoof!! He is a superstar and is going to do great things for both the franchise and the country," Hardik said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

Defending the total, GT bundled out MI for 171 in 18.2 overs. Mohit Sharma (5-10) starred with the ball, returning with a five-wicket haul while Rashid Khan (2-33) and Mohammad Shami (2-41) claimed two scalps each.

With this victory, Gujarat Titans set up a clash with Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023 final at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Sunday (May 28).

"I mean we will give our best. Irrelevant of the result, if we put our hundred percent and give our best, things are going to be fun. I mean knockouts are a fun game. It can go here and can go there, I mean, it is going to be fun with the boys," GT captain spoke of the final.
