Virat Kohli ended IPL 2023 with 639 runs in 14 games | BCCI-IPLRoyal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli scored his second consecutive century in the IPL 2023 in the crunch match against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final league match of the tournament to power RCB to 197/5.

This century was also his 7th and also took Kohli past Chris Gayle’s record for most IPL hundreds, which was 6. Playing a must-win game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Kohli ran the show in the first innings of the game, hitting a century off just 60 balls.

The batter became the third-ever player in the history of the IPL to score back-to-back centuries after Shikhar Dhawan and Jos Buttler. Earlier, Kohli had hit a century against SunRisers Hyderabad in RCB's last game.

The former RCB player Chris Gayle reacted in joy after the RCB innings and joked that he was going to come out of retirement.

IPL 2023: “Don’t think it’s anything serious,” Sanjay Bangar provides update on Virat Kohli’s knee niggle

"Never doubt Virat Kohli. Fantastic innings, well played, you know, he has put his team in a winning position. Virat and Faf batted really well, but it was all about Virat Kohli... Fantastic innings by Virat, he has passed the Universe Boss. I am coming back out of retirement and I will see you next year Virat," Gayle joked during the RCB vs GT game on Jio Cinema.

RCB 'Hall of Famer' AB de Villiers also tweeted after Kohli's century and said that th former captain was always there when RCB needed the most.

However, Kohli’s ton went in vain as Shubman Gill one-upped him by scoring 104* for GT and helped them win by 6 wickets. This knocked RCB out of playoffs race, as Mumbai Indians had defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier in the day.
