Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) qualified for the IPL 2023 playoffs after they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Kolkata on Saturday, May 20 by just 1 run. While Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will play in the Qualifier 1, LSG will play the Eliminator.

One of the key reasons for LSG making it into the playoffs was the return of form of their big money buy Nicholas Pooran.    

Pooran, who had a decent outing in IPL 2022 for SRH, has only improved his impact value and overall game after receiving a sizable bid of INR 16 crores from the Lucknow franchise before the IPL 2023.

The 27-year-old has an impressive tally of 358 runs in 14 innings as a finisher with a spectacular strike rate of 173.79 with two half-centuries to his name. The left-hander has smashed 26 sixes in the tournament so far.

He played an amazing knock, finishing a crucial match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad, when he smoked 44* in 13 balls with 4 sixes and 3 fours to help LSG win from a precarious position.  

However, his best knock came in the all-important must-win clash against KKR as he smashed 58 in 30 balls to with 5 sixes and 4 fours to help LSG put up a decent total of 176/8 which they defended despite Rinku Singh's death overs heroics. 

LSG recently shared a video from an LSG gym session in which a shirtless Pooran can be seen dancing in full flow to Daler Mehndi’s hit song “Bolo Tarara”. The video also shows teammate K Gowtham suggesting him some steps to do.
