IPL 2023: WATCH – Virat Kohli spends extra hours against in nets before slamming century against SRH

Kohli slammed 100 off 63 balls to keep RCB's playoffs hopes alive in the ongoing IPL.

Virat Kohli | BCCI-IPLVirat Kohli put on a show with the bat to script RCB’s eight-wicket victory over SRH at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Thursday (May 18).

Chasing 187 to win, Kohli and RCB skipper Faf du Plessis took the Sunrisers attack to the cleaners, adding 172 runs for the opening wicket.

In particular, Virat was severe on the SRH bowlers as he slammed 100 off 62 balls before getting out in the 18th over. It was Kohli’s sixth hundred in the IPL and his first after four years. His knock was studded with 12 fours and 4 sixes.

While Kohli and Du Plessis (71 off 47) got out in quick succession, Glenn Maxwell and Michael Bracewell completed the formalities to take RCB over the finishing line with two deliveries to spare.

Two days after the game, it has come to notice that Virat Kohli batted in the nets for two hours before he wreaked havoc on the SRH bowlers.

Taking to Twitter, RCB on Saturday (May 20) shared a video, in which Kohli can be seen smashing the ball hard in the nets before he pulled off the heroics against the 2016 IPL champions.

“Practice ???? Perfect Virat Kohli batted for close to two hours in the nets prior to the game against Sun Risers, to perfect every shot in the book. ???? What followed was a flawless hundred!” RCB wrote in the caption.

With this victory, RCB kept their IPL 2023 playoffs hopes alive. They are currently occupying fourth spot in the 10-team standings with 14 points from 13 games.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will face table-toppers Gujarat Titans in their last league match at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday (May 21).
