Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) mascot Mr. Nags tried to troll the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) during their recent IPL 2023 match against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Lucknow, but his attempt failed badly as the LSG defeated MI to stay alive in the race to playoffs.
After Marcus Stoinis’ punishing 89* and captain Krunal Panyda’s 49 (retired hurt) powered LSG to 177/3, MI started their chase well with openers Ishan Kishan (59) and Rohit Sharma (37) adding a brisk 90 runs for the first wicket.
Ravi Bishnoi removed them in quick succession and then Suryakumar Yadav committed Harakiri. Tim David kept MI in the hunt and it all went down to the last over when 11 runs were needed. David (32* in 19) tried his best but LSG's Mohsin Khan kept his cool and defended the runs easily.
LSG won the match by 5 runs in the end and went to the third spot in IPL 2023 standings with 15 points to their name.
Meanwhile, comedian Danish Sait, who portrays the character of Mr. Nags for RCB, shared an update on his Instagram story. His post read, “Enjoying MI vs LSG" accompanied by a big mango emoji.
Mangoes have become the go-to trolling option after LSG pacer Naveen Ul Haq sparked a buzz on social media by posting a photo of mangoes placed in front of a TV screen showing the Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians match.
Notably, the TV screen displayed the match score right after the RCB star Virat Kohli was dismissed.
However, with LSG winning the match, Mr. Nags’ attempt at a sly dig at Naveen backfired hilariously. Reacting to the outcome, he took to Twitter and humorously wrote, “This mango didn’t age well."
Not only was this hilarious, but the fans also contributed to the same. Naveen had a poor outing for LSG, as he went for 37 runs in his 4 overs, including the 19 runs which he gave in the 19th over when MI needed 30 in 12 balls.
