Gujarat Titans (GT) head coach Ashish Nehra was not happy with the way the team finished their batting innings in their recent IPL 2023 match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday, May 15.
Thanks to a brilliant 101 from Shubman Gill and 47 from Sai Sudharsan, GT posted 188/9 in 20 overs. But these were the only batters to get past single-digit scores from the GT XI. In reply, Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma picked up four wickets each as SRH hobbled their way to 154/9. At one stage, they were 7 for 59.
Their final scorecard was given a respectable look by Heinrich Klaasen who scored 64 off 44 balls.
GT won the match by 34 runs to become the first team to make the playoffs in IPL 2023.
However, Nehra was not a happy person at all during GT innings. Gujarat had revived well during the 147-run stand between Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan after losing Wriddhiman Saha in the first over of the match for a duck.
Nehra’s frustration of GT not finishing well was seen when Gill reached his maiden IPL ton and the dugout stood to applaud the opener. But Nehra was the only one who was still seated and showed no emotion at all.
Here is the video:
Nehra was observed arguing with skipper Hardik after the innings was over. Throughout the passionate conversation, Hardik and Nehra both seemed fairly enthusiastic. Vikram Solanki, the GT director of cricket, was seen attempting to calm Hardik down after Nehra walked away.
Here it is:
GT has been assured a top-two finish and still has one more match to go in the league stage, against RCB, which will be played on Sunday, May 21.
