IPL 2023: Cricket fraternity lauds Shubman Gill as his maiden IPL ton propels GT to 188/9 against SRH

Gill completed his maiden IPL ton in the penultimate over of GT's innings.

Shubman Gill | BCCI-IPLGujarat Titans (GT) opener Shubman Gill put on a show with the bat in Match 62 of IPL 2023 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Monday (May 15).

Invited to bat first, GT lost Wriddhiman Saha for a three-ball duck. However, the duo of Gill and Sai Sudharsan added 147 runs for the second wicket.

Gill was the aggressor in the partnership as he completed his half-century in just 22 balls. After Sudharsan’s dismissal on 47 off 36 balls, the defending champions suffered a collapse and kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

However, Shubman Gill held the one end firmly and notched up his maiden IPL hundred in the penultimate over off 56 balls. He got out in the last delivery of the 19th over after scoring 101 off 57 balls, propelling the Titans to 188/9 in 20 overs. His knock was studded with 13 fours and 1 six.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar starred with the ball for SRH, returning with a five-wicket haul by conceding 30 runs in his four overs.

For his stunning century, Shubman Gill garnered rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
