IPL 2023: WATCH- MI’s Nehal Wadhera travels at Mumbai airport wearing batting pads as punishment

MI will next play LSG in Lucknow on Tuesday.

Nehal Wadhera | MI TwitterMumbai Indians (MI) have done well to bounce back from the initial setbacks in the IPL 2023 tournament they are well poised to make it into the playoffs as they now have 14 points from 12 games.

Recently the MI squad was seen at the Mumbai airport as they flew out to Lucknow for their next league match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday.

MI shared a video of the squad in the airport but hilariously, batter Nehal Wadhera was seen wearing his batting pads at the airport and not the usual traveling attire.

This was because the Mumbai Indians punished Nehal Wadhera for arriving late to the team batters' meeting. He was not fined, but the punishment left him feeling a little embarrassed at the airport.

Notably, the team had a rather novel way of punishing players who were late for team meetings: they have to travel with the team while wearing a specially designed "punishment jumpsuit."

Mumbai franchise posted a video on their official social media account to show fans Wadhera's off-field activities. He could be seen striding through the airport with his pads on, alongside his teammates.

"#MumbaiIndians youngster #NehalWadhera turned all heads at Mumbai airport with his punishment #OOTD. He was captured with his pads on instead of the traditional jumpsuit. According to our sources, #Nehal regrets being late for batters meeting," Mumbai Indians posted on Twitter.

Wadhera is one of the season's discoveries and has been a consistent performer in the batting department for Mumbai in recent matches, hitting two half-centuries against RCB and CSK after making his debut in IPL 2023.
