Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar exchanged match jerseys after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday, May 14 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
Notably, Shardul was part of the CSK squad from 2018 and 2021 but the bowling all-rounder returned to Chepauk on Sunday as a KKR player. Shardul picked up 55 wickets in 48 IPL matches for the MS Dhoni-led side.
The match saw CSK manage 144/6, thanks to Shivam Dube, who top-scored with an unbeaten 48 off 34 balls, and Devon Conway who made 30. KKR spinners Sunil Narine (2/15) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/36) each took two wickets.
Deepak Chahar then removed the KKR top three of Jason Roy, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Venkatesh Iyer early. But Rinku Singh and skipper Nitish Rana made 54 and unbeaten 57, respectively to help KKR chase 145 in 18.3 overs.

After the match, Shardul and Chahar exchanged their jerseys and CSK posted the video on Instagram. The two pacers can be seen shaking hands and exchanging jerseys at the end of the game, with Shardul saying, "It is good to be back in CSK jersey."
The caption read: “Cherry x Dhool. Just like old times. #CSKvKKR #WhistlePodu #Yellove.” In the video, Shardul can be also heard telling Deepak that jersey "seedha nikalna tha na".
