IPL 2023: WATCH – Dhoni fails to hear question in post-match interview due to Chepauk crowd roar; increases volume of speaker

Dhoni was left in splits and he decided to move closer to the speaker.

MS Dhoni | BCCI-IPLWhile CSK skipper MS Dhoni enjoys a massive fan following across the world, his craze is on a different level among the cricket fans in Chennai.

On Sunday (May 14), CSK played their final home game in IPL 2023 as they hosted KKR at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium and the crowd went bonkers while cheering for their beloved captain.

When Dhoni started his post-match interview, the Chepauk crowd made such a noise that the CSK captain failed to hear commentator Simon Doull’s question.

As a result, Dhoni was left in splits and he decided to move closer to the speaker. The camera then caught him increasing the volume.

Doull reiterated his question amid the “Dhoni, Dhoni” chants from the spectators but this time the skipper did manage to hear it.

"One of those days when you win the toss and bat first and the moment the first ball was bowled in the second innings, you realise it is a 180 wicket. Batting first I don't think we could have got anywhere close to 180. I think the dew made a big difference. If you compare the first innings to the second innings, there was a lot more purchase for the spinners in the first innings and that's what really got to us," said Dhoni.

Coming to the match, Chennai Super Kings succumbed to a six-wicket defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders in Match 61 of IPL 2023.

Opting to bat first, the hosts posted a modest 144/6 on the board. It was a disappointing batting display as no batter managed to hit a half-century. Shivam Dube was the top scorer with 48 not out off 34 balls.

In reply, KKR rode on half-centuries from Nitish Rana (57* off 44) and Rinku Singh (54 off 43) to overhaul the target with 9 deliveries to spare.
