IPL 2023: MS Dhoni, CSK stars to go on a special lap of honor to thank fans at Chepauk after KKR match

CSK have 15 points from 12 games and are second on IPL 2023 points table | IPL-BCCIMS Dhoni and other Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stars will go on a special lap of honor at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to thank their fans on the ground after their upcoming IPL 2023 match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 14.

Fans were kept guessing since CSK announced on social media on Sunday morning that there was a surprise after the home game. Speculation about MS Dhoni's retirement also added fuel to the fire.

However, it was revealed that as it will be the last home match for CSK this season, the players of the team will do a special lap of honor in front of the home fans.

Chennai Super Kings returned to play the IPL in Chennai for the first time since 2019 as the IPL returned to the home and away format in 2023. Fans have turned up in large numbers despite reported ticket sales issues.

MS Dhoni has not opened up about his retirement plans from the IPL but the fans have given him farewell-like reception every time he has walked out to the middle.

CSK took to Twitter and said the players will also gift merchandise to fans who turn up for the big-ticket clash against Kolkata Knight Riders.

"Thank you so much for your support not in Chennai but outside Chennai also. Your support has motivated us a lot. We thank you We would like to do something special for you," senior batter Ajinkya Rahane said.

Thousands turned up for their away game at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and outnumbered the home fans as the Kolkata crowd cheered for MS Dhoni.

CSK, who have 15 points from 12 matches, will qualify for the playoffs if they beat KKR at home on Sunday.
