Mumbai Indians (MI) dealt with a major blow as ace pacer Jofra Archer got ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season owing to an injury.
The franchise has signed Archer’s England teammate Chris Jordan as a replacement for the rest of the season.
Jordan, who made his IPL debut in 2016, has featured in 28 IPL matches so far and has 27 wickets to his name. The right arm quick has been roped in at his base price of INR 2 crore.
“Chris Jordan will join the MI squad for the rest of the season. Chris replaces Jofra Archer, whose recovery and fitness continues to be monitored by ECB. Jofra will return home to focus on his rehabilitation,” MI said in a statement.
Jofra Archer played only five games for Mumbai Indians this season as he struggled with fitness in between. The speedster managed to claim only two scalps in the ongoing IPL.
