Speculations are rife that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni will bring down the curtains on his professional cricket career with the conclusion of IPL 2023.
Amid the speculations, Dhoni has been receiving rousing reception from the fans every time he steps on the field. Be it the Chinnaswamy, Eden Gardens or the Wankhede, the chants of 'Dhoni Dhoni' have echoed in the stadiums.
Talking about CSK’s home ground Chepauk, fans are filling the stands in large numbers just to see Dhoni’s practice session.
While Dhoni has teased the idea of his retirement whenever asked, former India batter Suresh Raina on Monday (May 8) revealed the CSK captain’s exact words to him when asked about his IPL future.
“Mai trophy jeetke ek saal aur khelunga (After winning the trophy, I will play one more year),” Raina cited Dhoni’s words while speaking on JioCinema.
Earlier this week, presenter Danny Morrison asked MS Dhoni during the toss whether he was enjoying the support of fans in his last IPL season.
To this, Dhoni gave a big smile and replied: “You've decided that it's my last season.”
Under MS Dhoni, CSK are doing well in the ongoing IPL season. The four-time champions occupy the second spot in the 10-team standings with 13 points from 11 matches.
