Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clashed in Match 50 of the IPL 2023 in Delhi on Saturday (May 6).

RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first, as he and Virat Kohli (55) gave a fine start to the visitors of 82 in 10.3 overs, before Du Plessis was dismissed for 45.

Kohli went on to complete 7,000 runs and scored his 50th half-century in the IPL during his stay in the middle. Mahipal Lomror struck a brilliant 54* as RCB finished their innings at 181/4 with Mitchell Marsh taking two wickets for Delhi Capitals.

DC needed a strong start and they got exactly that as Phil Salt and David Warner (22) added 60 in just 5.1 overs before the DC captain was dismissed. Marsh then played an attacking cameo of 26 in 17 balls, but it was Salt who played the best innings of his short IPL career thus far, scoring 87 in 45 balls.

Rilee Rossouw struck an unbeaten 35 in 22 balls as DC completed an emphatic 7-wicket win with 20 balls to spare, and moved one spot to ninth in the points table with 8 points, while RCB stayed fifth with 10 points.

After the match all eyes were on Virat Kohli and DC's director of cricket, Sourav Ganguly as the duo shared extremely cold vibes during the previous encounter between both sides in Bengaluru, as the latter avoided a handshake with the former RCB captain. Later it was said that both cricketers unfollowed each other on Instagram.

For those unaware, Kohli ended up quitting as Indian captain in T20Is and Tests, while he was removed as ODI captain during Ganguly's tenure as BCCI President. There were several reports suggesting that all was not well between them and a clash of egos was also hinted at by the media.

However, unlike Kohli's heated spat with LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir in Lucknow, which saw both getting fined 100 percent of their match fees, nothing untoward happened in Delhi with Ganguly and the RCB batter exchanging a warm handshake followed by tap of the shoulder after the match.
