IPL 2023: Hardik Pandya admits to have made a judgement error against Delhi Capitals after GT’s big win over RR

Gujarat Titans registered a thumping nine-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals.

Hardik Pandya | BCCI-IPLAfter a narrow five-run loss at the hands of Delhi Capitals (DC), Gujarat Titans registered a thumping nine-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur on Friday (May 5).

Following the win against RR, GT skipper Hardik Pandya admitted that he made judgement errors in the defeat versus DC earlier this week.

Chasing 131 to win, the defending champions managed 125/6 in their allotted 20 overs. While Hardik scored 59 not out off 53 balls, he failed to take his team over the finishing line.

On Friday, however, Pandya returned with a whirlwind 15-ball 39* to help the Titans overhaul the target of 119 with 37 deliveries to spare.

“I made some judgement errors in the last game, but today my job was half done by the time Shubman (Gill) got out. I don’t shy away from accepting mistakes, accepting is the key to succeed for me,” Hardik Pandya said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Earlier, Afghan spin duo of Rashid Khan (3-14) and Noor Ahmad (2-25) were the wrecker-in-chief with the ball, sharing five wickets between them to bundle out RR for a below-par 118 in 17.5 overs.

In the chase, GT got off to a brilliant start as the pair of Wriddhiman Saha (41*) and Shubman Gill (36*) added 71 runs for the opening wicket.

“I let Rashid handle the business with Noor; nobody (is) better to communicate. Not much (that) I have to do, I only suggest when to have a slip. They are very confident about what they want to do, we only have conversations when things aren’t going right.

“I feel Wriddhi is one of the best keepers, not easy to pick Rashid and Noor with their speeds,” Pandya added.

It was Gujarat Titans’ seventh win in 10 games this season. They will next face Lucknow Super Giants in Ahmedabad on Sunday (May 7).
