KL Rahul sustained a hamstring injury during the LSG-RCB clash.

KL Rahul leaving the field after suffering hamstring injury | BCCI-IPLLucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul sustained a hamstring injury during his team’s IPL 2023 clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday (May 1).

Rahul was chasing the ball to stop it from going towards the boundary before pulling up. He was in serious pain and walked off the field.

The LSG captain didn't take the field after picking up an injury in just the second over of the match. He came out to bat after the fall of the 9th wicket.

In his absence, all-rounder Krunal Pandya led the Super Giants against RCB in a high-voltage clash, which the home team lost by 18 runs.

While the picture isn’t clear regarding the extent of his injury, a report published in Cricbuzz claims that Rahul's further participation in IPL 2023 will be subject to BCCI and the medical team of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Rahul is still with the team in Lucknow but will miss Wednesday’s (May 3) game against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as Krunal will continue to lead the side.

According to the report, KL Rahul is still in pain and has swelling. The NCA and BCCI medical team will have scans done and after the scan results, it will be known how serious is the injury. As it stands, the opening batter is set to miss a few games for LSG.

With the World Test Championship (WTC) final slated to be held in a month's time, the BCCI and NCA's priority will be to get Rahul fit for the summit clash against Australia.

Every decision on Rahul from now on will be taken under BCCI's supervision, LSG sources said as per the report.
