IPL 2023: WATCH- Virat has animated discussion with Gambhir after being chided by Mayers and Naveen Ul Haq

Earlier, Kohli had blown kisses and made keep quiet gesture after taking Krunal's catch.

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir arguing after the match  | TwitterLucknow Super Giants (LSG) clashed against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 43rd match of the IPL 2023 which is being played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on May 1.

RCB posted 126/9 in 20 overs on a sluggish pitch after winning the toss with Faf du Plessis top-scoring with 44 and Virat Kohli making 31 and adding 62 runs for the opening wicket. For LSG, Naveen Ul Haq, picked three wickets while Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra took two wickets apiece.

In reply, RCB bowlers made life more difficult for LSG batters, especially after an injured KL Rahul didn’t come out to bat until the 9th wicket fell.

K Gowtham top-scored with 23 and Amit Mishra made 19 runs as LSG only managed 108 runs in 19.5 overs. For RCB, Josh Hazlewood and Karn Sharma picked two wickets apiece.

However, the encounter was more in focus for Virat Kohli’s antics on the field, who was a livewire when RCB bowled. He took two catches and after taking those catches, he blew kisses to the crowd and also made keep quiet gesture as well.

Many felt that this was in response to Gautam Gambhir doing the same after LSG had beaten RCB in Bengaluru in their earlier meeting in IPL 2023.

When the two sides came to shake hands, Virat Kohli was first interrupted by Afghanistan’s Naveen Ul Haq, who stopped the former RCB skipper for some words.

Then, LSG opener Kyle Mayers chided Kohli for his gesture after taking Krunal’s catch, before Gautam Gambhir pulled him away from Kohli.

Ultimately, as words were thrown around and tempers flared, Virat Kohli approached Gautam Gambhir and the two hashed it out in the middle surrounded by players and support staff of both teams.

Then LSG captain KL Rahul intervened and broke the melee by separating the two warring Delhiites and breaking the war of words.
