After winning the toss, Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan decided to bowl first. Along with him, Kagiso Rabada and Sikandar Raza were also added to the XI by PBKS. Yash Thakur was picked by LSG for this match.

Though KL Rahul was dismissed for 12 runs, Kyle Mayers (54 in 24 balls) and Ayush Badoni (43 in 24 balls) laid down a good foundation for the big hitters. Badoni then added 89 runs with Marcus Stoinis who hammered 72 in 40 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes. Nicholas Pooran made 45 in 19 balls with 7 fours and 1 six.

LSG posted 257/5 in 20 overs thanks to their assault which is the second-highest team total in IPL history behind RCB’s 263/5.

After their dismissals, it was a procession of wickets for the home side with Liam Livingstone (23), Sam Curran (21), and Jitesh Sharma (24) trying their best but failing. In the end, PBKS finished with 201 runs in 19.5 overs.

For LSG, Yash Thakur picked 4/37, while Naveen Ul Haq picked three wickets.

Thanks to this big win, LSG now has 10 points from 8 games and thanks to a very good net run rate, moved to the second spot in the points table behind RR.
