Opting to bat first, the hosts racked up a mammoth 202/5 in their allotted 20 overs on the back of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 43-ball 77 and vital contributions from Dhruv Jurel (34 off 15) and Devdutt Padikkal (27* off 13).
Maheesh Theekshana was the stand-out bowler for CSK, returning with the figures of 1 for 24 in his four-over spell.
Defending the total, the visitors restricted RR to 170/6. The spin duo of Adam Zampa (3-22) and R Ashwin (2-35) were the wrecker-in-chief with the ball, sharing five scalps between them.
For CSK, Shivam Dube top scored with 33-ball 52 while Ruturaj Gaikwad slammed 47 off 29 balls. Other Chennai batters like Ravindra Jadeja (23* off 15) and Moeen Ali (23 off 12) also chipped in with handy cameos but none of them managed to take their team over the line.
