MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain exulted in a rare show of emotion as he shouted in elation after Maheesh Theekshana castled Jason Roy during their IPL 2023 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 23 in Eden Gardens.
Usually, MS Dhoni is very calm behind the stumps and rarely shows an animated reaction to a fall of wicket. His usual celebrations if he takes a catch is throwing the ball up in the air and clap once or if someone is bowled, Dhoni usually walks to the bowler to congratulate him.
However, in KKR's chase of 236 at the Eden Gardens, a well-set Jason Roy threatened to take his team near the huge target with an entertaining half-century to his name. But in the 15th over, Dhoni brought on Maheesh Theekshana and the Sri Lanka reciprocated by taking Roy’s wicket.
The Englishman had hit consecutive boundaries at the start of the 15th over by Theekshana, but the bowler delivered a full length delivery in the blockhole, which Roy missed and was bowled.

As soon as the wicket fell, Dhoni, who was certain to have been left agitated at Roy's impressive shot making, shouted with a big “Yes”.

KKR tried their best to chase down the total but could only manage 186/8 in 20 overs and lost the game by 49 runs. This meant that CSK went to the top of the IPL 2023 points table with 5 wins and 10 points from 7 matches.
