Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni made a shocking statement regarding his future as a player after their latest encounter in IPL 2023 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Chennai on April 21.
Dhoni was a happy man as CSK defeated SRH by 7 wickets in a dominating showing by the home side. After choosing to bowl first, Dhoni and his men restricted SRH to 134/7 in 20 overs with Ravindra Jadeja picking 3/22.
Then in reply, Ruturaj Gaikwad made 35 and Devon Conway smashed 77* as CSK won the match easily in the end.
During the post-match presentation, MS Dhoni was in a jovial mood and complained about not getting the best catch of the match award and also dropped a bombshell on his fans.
Dhoni's post-match briefing soon turned emotional after the 41-year-old hinted towards his possible retirement. On being asked about the CSK fans at the Chepauk, Dhoni said that he is "enjoying the last phase of my career".

"All said and done, it's the last phase of my career, however long I play. After two years, the fans have had the opportunity to come here and watch, feels good to be here. The crowd has given us a lot of love and affection," said Dhoni after the match.
The former India captain is 41 years old and is managing a knee injury, but he had said ahead of the IPL 2023, that he will not retire until he thanks all of his fans across the country after it was announced that the 16th edition of the tournament will be played on a home and away basis.
