IPL 2023: Delhi Capitals beat Kolkata Knight Riders by four wickets to register maiden win of IPL 16

DC defeated KKR in a low-scoring affair at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Delhi Capitals | BCCI-IPLDelhi Capitals (DC) opened their winning account in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) with a nail-biting four-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday (April 20).

Opting to bowl first, the hosts bundled out the Knight Riders for 127 in 20 overs. Jason Roy was the top scorer with 39-ball 43 while Andre Russell played a crucial cameo of 31-ball 38*.

All the DC bowlers did exceptionally well. Ishant Sharma, Anrich Nortje, Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav returned with two scalps each.

In reply, the Capitals batters also found it tough against the KKR spinners on a slow wicket and overhauled the paltry target in 19.2 overs.

David Warner scored 57 off 41 balls batting at the top. While DC’s middle-order failed to rise to the occasion, Manish Pandey (21) and Akshar Patel (19*) chipped in with handy contributions to take Delhi over the finishing line.

Brief Scores:

Kolkata Knight Riders – 127/10 in 20 overs (Jason Roy 43; Akshar Patel 2-13; Ishant Sharma 2-19) lost to Delhi Capitals – 128/6 in 19.2 overs (David Warner 57; Varun Chakaravarthy 2-16) by four wickets
