While Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul has been among the runs in the ongoing IPL season, his strike rate has put him under the scanner time and again.

On Wednesday (April 19), Rahul once again drew flak for his lack of intent while opening against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Instead of playing attacking cricket, Rahul took his time in the powerplay and eventually perished for 39 off 32 balls in the 11th over. His knock was studded with 4 fours and 1 six.

Former England batter-turned-commentator Kevin Pietersen was left irked by the LSG captain’s approach.

“Watching KL Rahul bat is the most boring thing I have ever been through," Pietersen was heard saying on-air.

Before this game, KL Rahul registered scores of 8, 20, 35, 18, and 74 in the IPL 2023 season. In all the innings, his approach was circumspect. He took 56 balls to score 74 runs in LSG’s last game against Punjab Kings.
