The 2023 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is in its third week but star England batter Joe Root hasn’t found a place in Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) playing XI so far.
Having registered four wins from five matches, the Royals are occupying the top position on the IPL 2023 points table.
While Root is a key member of RR's squad in the ongoing season, he hasn't managed to break into the starting XI because of a power-packed top order, which also features his national teammate Jos Buttler.
However, it seems that Joe Root will finally get a chance in RR’s clash against Lucknow Super Giants at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday (April 19).
In a video posted by Rajasthan Royals on Twitter, Root was seen honing his skills in the nets. In the clip, the former England captain was spotted hitting the legendary MS Dhoni’s trademark 'helicopter' shot.
"Joe Root brings out the helicopter," the caption of the tweet read.
During the IPL 2023 auction last December, Joe Root was roped in by Rajasthan Royals for his base price of INR 1 Crore. It is his maiden IPL stint having gone unsold at the auction in the past.
